Hi there! We're Jamey and Jess. We’re the kind of couple who can't wait for our next Disney trip, think the smell of the Polynesian lobby is its own kind of therapy, and have strong opinions about which EPCOT festival is best.
Our love for Disney runs deep, and it’s something we’ve shared for decades; well before we knew one another. Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, and Avatar. We're here for all of it. We’re also WDW pass-holders, D23 members, and the kind of people who build entire weekends around the little moments and hidden gem experiences. And of course, we can't get enough of the Jungle Cruise puns. We’ve taken the cruises, strolled through Disneyland, and shown up, happily exhausted, for D23 Expo and Destination D23. We're also raising two daughters, Ainsley and Fiona, who’ve grown up knowing exactly what it means to be “Disney kids!”
Jamey is the curious one. A scientist by background, a healthcare brand experience strategist by trade, and the kind of person who wants to understand the how behind the magic. He wants to know who designed the mural, wrote the script for the ride queue, or figured out how to make a LEGO castle feel like something more. He's a collector of Disney art and posters from artists like Dave Perillo, Tom Whalen, and Eric Tan. And if you see him, you'll likely see him wearing one of his many RSVLTS shirts! He even went to Space Camp. (He’ll tell you if you don’t ask.)
Jess sees the magic in everything. Even the little things. Maybe especially the little things. She remembers staying at the Polynesian in the ‘80s with her family, and to this day, she gets emotional every time she walks onto main street. When not in a park, you're likely to find her, tiki drink in hand, at Trader Sam's Terrace listening to live music on the ukulele overlooking the Seven Seas Lagoon. When not at Disney, she's a travel planner who specializes in all kinds of travel (yes, Disney too!), helping families plan the kinds of trips that turn into stories people tell for the rest of their lives.
We’ve always said there are two kinds of people: the ones who take the Keys to the Kingdom tour and feel disappointed to learn how the magic works… and the ones who walk away with a deeper appreciation for how thousands of moving parts—and people—come together to create something extraordinary. Crafting the Magic is for that second group.
It’s for the fans who find joy in the making, the planning, the artistry, and the storytelling behind the scenes. Who wear Disney gear on a random Tuesday to work. Who have posters and art on their walls. Who have a closet full of Mickey Ears and Loungefly bags. Who trade pins and Lorcana cards. Who play jazzed-up Disney soundtracks while cooking dinner (the Pixar hotel soundtrack at Disneyland is our favorite!)
Crafting the Magic is our love letter to all of that. To the people behind the posters, the merch, the resorts, the art, the design, the legacy—the creators. And to the fans, like you, who see it, feel it, and want to understand it just a little more.
We’re so glad you’re here to dig into how these amazing people craft the Disney universe and all its magic.
